Aims
To investigate potential ways of sustaining our community for its Future, and as a possible pilot for others.
* Establishing the area’s carbon footprint by means of a questionnaire to
each household . Investigation of means of reducing overall carbon
emissions. Distribution of ideas. Follow – up survey / questionnaire.
* Mini hydro- electric scheme, which will reduce our dependency on the
National Grid.
* Looking at possibility of having a community forest.
* A community larder- an allotment area and polytunnel.
* Investigation to use local wool for insulation and felt.
* Investigation of possible use of bracken / soiled wool to create compost.
* Investigation into something to achieve the original intentions of Thomas
Johnes of Hafod to construct arches at the entrances to the village one left.
These could depict the mining history of village, also the importance of
forestry, wild life and farming.
* Investigation of repair of our ancient stone walls.
* Enhancement of village by placing tubs of flowers and shrubs at entrance
signs and notice board. ( Achieved March 1st 2008)
* Use of field corners inaccessible to large machinery, for planting of fruit
trees gives fresh fruit encourages insects and birds then later specialised
wood.
* Research and subsequent education into traditional ways of preserving food, and traditional energy saving ways of cooking. ( to reduce
dependency on freezers)
* Promotion of training for and promotion of viability of Traditional crafts.
* Research of public transport possibilities, possibly electric preparing for the
day oil runs out.
As with most community involvement, we are aware of issues in the area, and we seek to explore other benefits in relation to Community Enhancement.
