Mountain road from Rhayader to Cwmystwyth is named by the AA as one of the ten most scenic routes in the UK.

John Ogilvy, map maker 1672 produced the first road map from London to Aberystwyth and came through Cwmystwyth because of the Silver from the Lead Mine.  Last 76 miles shown.
